Concrete, Washington (WA) Real Estate

Concrete Real Estate & Property Search
The city of Concrete, Washington is a rural town located about 20 minutes East of Sedro Woolley as you travel along State Highway 20. Located on the banks of the Skagit River, it is surrounded by some of Washington State's most breathtaking natural beauty.
Concrete is a town with deep roots, with settlers in the area since at least 1890. The Washington Portland Cement Plant was the first cement plant in the area, constructed in 1905. At that time, the community was called “Cement City”, and was called by several other names prior to that. When the second, the Superior Portland Cement Plant was built in 1908, the town of Concrete was officially incorporated in May,1909.
Concrete has some lovely scenery, including the North Cascades National Park, as well as man-made sights like the Lower Baker Dam and Henry Thompson Bridge. While in town, make sure to check out the Historic Concrete Theater, built in the 1920’s, and Concrete High School, which was actually built, in part, over the road leading to it.
Concrete is best known for the annual Upper Skagit Bald Eagle Festival, which is held in January in and around the cities of Concrete, Rockport and Marblemount. The Upper Skagit Bald Eagle Festival brings bird watchers and wildlife photographers from all over for lectures, vendors, and expansive offerings from the visitor center.
In July, there’s the Old Fashioned Concrete Fly-In that brings in small planes to local Concrete Municipal Airport. Enjoy food vendors and souvenir booths as well as the unique, handmade or antique small aircraft on display.
There are also a couple of new events that we hope continue – the Concrete Ghost Walk in October, and Cascade Days in August.
Skagit County as a whole is most well known for the annual Skagit Valley Tulip Festival held each year in April. The beautiful tulip, daffodil, & iris fields draw thousands of people into Skagit County each year.
